Hate Your Job? Here’s 3 Things To Do!

What’s Up with Work?

Jobs have always been a point of contention for most of us.

Most Americans, from my observation, are working jobs that they hate or dislike.

The majority of us are unfulfilled at the thing we do for at least 40 hours each week.

It’s a sad issue.

Just to be clear, this is NOT an anti-job rant.

I do believe that there are fulfilling jobs out there.

And I’m not telling you to quit your job out of emotion.

However, something has to give.

From a recent book I picked up, I learned that an unfulfilling job can affect other parts of our lives.

This includes a lack of sleep, worry, anxiety, physical sickness, and a breakdown of mental health.

So, what is the solution?

Let me share with you 3 things to do to help alleviate this situation.

This is from my personal observation.

3 Things to Do If You Hate Your Job

You can watch the video below or keep reading below.

Here are the 3 things you can do if you hate your job.

FIND A NEW JOB

This is an obvious choice.

If you don’t like your job, start putting in applications for a better opportunity.

It’s easy to complain.

But it’s difficult to make the changes necessary.

Here are some things you can do:

  • Make sure you have to right skills for the job you want
  • Update your resume to reflect your current skills and strengths
  • Apply as much and as often as you can
  • Build relationships to help open up doors for your better job

FIND A HOBBY OR CREATIVE ENDEAVOR

A hobby is defined as an activity done in leisure time for pleasure.

One problem is that most of us do nothing when we get home, except for doomscrolling.

Most of us chose habits like binge watching or scrolling on social media that do nothing to enhance our lives.

I understand that time can be a factor.

Responsibilities may hinder us from doing hobbies.

I feel that it is important to carve out time for yourself, even if it is a few minutes in the day.

You have to be intentional to do something that feels authentic to you.

Her are a few things I do to detach myself from my workday:

  • Drawing
  • Writing
  • Reading

Detaching yourself from your job is important.

We need to be intentional about doing something with our leisure time that we are passionate about, brings fulfillment, and allows us to express ourselves in an authentic way.

START A SIDE HUSTLE OR BUSINESS

Another obvious choice is to start your own side hustle.

Creating income outside of your job may be the very thing to lead you to freedom from a job.

There are tons of options out there to consider.

I would love to start a side hustle myself, but I’m conflicted on what to do.

Here are some things to consider when starting a side hustle:

  • Create a side hustle that solves a problem.
  • Consider a side hustle that uses your current skills.

Having your own side hustle allows for more financial freedom and fulfillment.

Realize that a side hustle is not going to lead to overnight freedom.

Building your own side hustle is playing the long game.

Conclusion

Most people seem to be unfulfilled at their jobs.

However, we have to create our fulfillment outside of the job.

We are NOT our jobs.

It is not the only aspect of our lives.

Let us consider hobbies, side hustles, and looking for another job that brings more fulfillment.

We have to make sure not to put too much of our identity into our jobs.

A job is something that we do, NOT who we are.
